Canadian Guide
The New Brunswick Silent Witness Committee has created a “Silent Witness Guide to Establishing a Silent Witness Project in Your Province or Territory”.

As the first Silent Witness Project in Canada, our Committee is prepared to assist in your efforts to start a Silent Witness Project in your Province. Since our launch in 2002, many other provinces have created their own Silent Witness initiatives. Check out our Links to see if you can find a project and contact information for your province. Be sure to check out the International Silent Witness Web Site at www.silentwitness.net to learn what is happening around the world.
If you are interested in becoming involved in a Silent Witness Project in your own province or territory, feel free to contact the New Brunswick Silent Witness Organizing Committee. We are committed to:
- Sharing our experiences in developing a Silent Witness Project in our province, including the role played by funders, community partners, and supporters
- Providing you with protocols, criteria and documentation developed for the New Brunswick project (no need to reinvent the wheel), so that you can adapt these for your own Silent Witness initiative
- Offering insight into the research component of the project
- Suggesting ways of incorporating family contact and community healing into your project
- Offering valuable insights on the technical aspects of constructing silhouettes
- Acting as a Clearinghouse for the Canadian Silent Witness Initiative to help us all stay connected and supported
- Working with national organizations to facilitate collective and collaborative action and advocacy strategies in the area of family violence awareness and prevention.
Together, we can share a wealth of information, ideas and support to make this project a Canada-wide initiative.
