Rhonda Lynch, age 19

Rhonda Lynch, Newcastle, N.B., was murdered in her home by her boyfriend on December 10th, 1989. He also murdered her mother, Sara Lynch. Both women were suffocated. Rhonda’s 14-month old baby was also in the house at the time. The killer received two concurrent life sentences for the second-degree murders with eligibility for parole after 15 years. Rhonda was indeed a gift to her family. The youngest of five brothers and three sisters, she shared a birthday with her father. Although Rhonda only grew to 4 feet, 10 inches tall due to complications at birth, without a doubt her magnetic personality and determined spirit set her apart and more than compensated for her tiny stature. She grew up with a love of clothes, shoes and jewelry, and had a definite soft spot for animals. She was genuinely devoted to raising her son and looked forward to their life together. Rhonda met the challenges in her life bravely and with dignity. She was an inspiration to many and loved by those who knew her. She is never more than a memory away.
