The Women We Honour

Paula Armstrong, 40 years

Paula Armstrong, Petitcodiac, was killed in Moncton on June 17, 2015 by her estranged common-law partner. They were working out the details of separation when he killed Paula with a knife and took his own life. Paula had gone to his home to pick up her dog when he attacked her.

Paula was starting to feel joy in life again as she chose to leave a relationship that had become poisonous and threatening. She reached out and relied on friends and family. Life presented new possibilities - she met new friends, enjoyed her work, made plans to travel and wondered at the things to come.

Paula could bring out the best in others. One of her favorite sayings was: “Do something awesome”. These words spoken with humor and encouragement continue to be an inspiration. She loved all kinds of music; her favorite musical quote was: jump around (3x). She loved animals and was devoted to Bryton and Colombe. A tree planted in memoriam will remind us of all these things.
