The Women We Honour

Cindy Irving, 45 years

Cindy Irving, Saint John, N.B., was strangled to death by her husband on March 23, 2014. He had become increasingly jealous, suspicious and controlling and they frequently argued about this. That night, Cindy reaffirmed her intent to end their 23 year relationship. He was convicted of second-degree-murder and sentenced to life with no eligibility of parole for 12 years.

Cindy is remembered as a kind, hard-working mother of four. She was known for her loving and nurturing personality and was seen as a mother figure to many. Her children were her everything; she was so proud and would talk about them to everyone. Dedicated to providing a better life for her children, she went back to school, graduating as a pharmacy technician. Cindy loved her job. Coworkers and customers became extended family. She was an avid sports fan. Sundays were for family dinners and watching the Blue Jays or hockey.  Cindy was loved by everyone who knew her and not a day goes by that we don't think of her and wish she was here with us. "I’ll love you forever"
